Nitrous Oxide Sedation: What You Should Know
April 22, 2022What To Do If Your Teeth Have Shifted After Braces
July 14, 2022Toothbrush bristles come in all shapes, sizes, and even firmness! Each mouth is different and requires different care, so which kind of toothbrush bristle is right for you? Let’s take a deeper look at the pros and cons of soft, medium, and hard bristles to determine what type of toothbrush you need.
Soft
Soft toothbrushes are especially great for children, but people of all ages can benefit from them! They are gentle on the gums, ensuring that they don’t cause bleeding or tenderness in the mouth. However, you should make sure to use a mouthwash as well because it may not properly scrub the plaque and food off your teeth.
Medium
A medium-bristled toothbrush is a great in-between option and offers many benefits. The bristles are hard enough to scrub any plaque off of your teeth. However, they won’t be too hard on the teeth or gums either, which can cause damage or soreness. Medium bristles provide all the benefits of a soft and hard toothbrush combined!
Hard
We don’t recommend using a hard bristle toothbrush every day as they can cause damage to the enamel on your teeth. However, there is a time and place to use them! Hard bristle toothbrushes are great at removing stains or cleaning dentures/retainers. So, keep a hard bristle toothbrush around for these particular circumstances!
